Mission Complete

mission complete

The first mix pack is done!  Today we’re reviewing our Brewery 85 beers and the Torch Pilsner.  You can catch our first three reviews of this mix pack here.  Let’s get started shall we?

We’ll start with the Brewery 85 beers.  I was very excited about these because they’re a SC based brewery in Greenville.  I love the packaging on the beers.  The beers themselves?
Brewery 85
We’ll start on the left with the American Pale Ale.  This review is going to be short and sweet.  Kendall wanted to drink it so I poured it for her.  I was able to take a few sips and I was impressed with what I tasted.  Unfortunately, she started vacuuming the house immediately afterwards.  As most of you know, Riggins sheds like a maniac and after seeing a clump of hair, Kendall decided it was time to take matters into her own hands and start pushing.  Riggins is also terrified of the vacuum so it is entertaining as well.  Unfortunately that left the beer out and it got a little warm.  We apologize to Brewery 85….this one gets an incomplete.  We’ll include it in a future mix pack, because I tasted the potential.

Next up is the Quittin’ Time Helles Bock.  It was ok.  I can’t really explain why I don’t like it more.  It smelled very pleasant, I could sense some banana in there.  I figured packed with the aroma of a super food this could end up being a super beer.  It just ended up being ok.  It had a leftover syrupy aftertaste that I think slogged it down and prevented me from enjoying it more.  I didn’t dislike it.  I also don’t really know if I liked it.  I’ll probably try it again and maybe see if I can find it on draft somewhere.
Torch Pils
We conclude our first mix pack with the Torch Pilsner.  This was an enjoyable, easy drinking beer.  It has a nice floral scent to it and it pops in your mouth on first taste.  You can taste the carbonation and the flavor is pretty sharp.  I drank it after watching Kendall bathe Riggins so it’s a good beer to drink after watching your wife work hard outside on a warm day.  What brings it down is its bitter aftertaste.  At first I was a fan but it lingered just a little too long.  Regardless, I want to try this on tap and I recommend you try it to.

Up next we have a new mix pack.  I’ll blog a little tomorrow about some of the feedback I have received from you magnificent readers.  So what’s in the mix pack?
1. Holy City Slanted Porch Pale Ale
2. Carolina Brewery Sky Blue Golden Ale
3. New Holland Brewing White Hatter
4. River Rat Pilsner
5. Coast Brewing Dead Arm Pale Ale
6. Fatty’s First Shot IPA
